As a submission to the PUNKTUATION Project, a design prompt that explores how punctuation marks can carry conceptual meaning beyond typography, I utilized the greater-than, less-than, and equals signs as structural frameworks for political critique.
The first design leverages greater-than and less-than symbols to comment on the binary logic of U.S. political discourse, using historical imagery and collage to reinforce a theme of superficial comparison. The second design interprets the equals sign as a metaphor for shared culpability within the military-industrial complex, utilizing mirrored visuals to emphasize system equivalence.
Across both pieces, the typographic symbols serve as functional anchors for broader social commentary, blending collaged artifacts and graphic constraints to amplify the underlying message.
